So many opinions, whether you follow #travelhacks on social media or subscribe to other travel newsletters.

Here’s something we just read in the New York Times this week. Elaine Glusac, the Frugal Traveler columnist, reports January and February are good months to buy.

“Prices are some of the lowest that you see throughout the year,” said Hayley Berg, the chief economist at the travel booking app Hopper, “and it’s a time of year where you can even book last-minute airfare, and still often get a deal.”

She also quotes an executive from Expedia saying you can book cheaper flights between President’s Day and Spring Break. Plus the last two weeks of August and the first week of December you can book cheaper fares, according to Elaine.

Jeannie Edmunds always checks Hopper before booking directly with the airline.

Take it from us: never book your air ticket through a third party app, even if it’s cheaper. It’s not worth it if you get stuck. The airline will tell you “not my circus, not my monkeys.”

Traveling to the UK from Canada or the US? New requirements.

The UK government has imposed a new entry requirement for all passengers arriving from the US or Canada. You’ll need an ETA and you can apply for one here. Cost is 10 GBP (@$12.50 USD) Our travelers to Morocco (who were in transit through London) just did it and it’s fast and super easy.

You’ll need one to come on our first ever UK trip this year. A special occasion trip to Bath and the Cotswolds.

Ready to roll? Not so fast. Make sure you read the tips below! NextTribe traveler Wendy Goodman from Hawaii knew what to do!
