Traveling in my mind
While Jeannie Ralston (Co-Founder & CEO) is in India, Jeannie Edmunds (Chief Operating Officer) enjoys the journey vicariously
Hello ,
If you’re on a news diet, taking a break from social media, or observing “dry January” congratulations on your discipline. I’ve only stopped alcohol for a month, but I can’t seem to quit the other two.
It’s amazing how triggering some news and social media content can be. For example, whenever I see a story of a child being bullied, I turn into 6-year-old me, when the boys played a game of “Jeannie germs” and you can guess how that ended. Their words were sticks and stones that broke my heart, until one day, long into adulthood, a childhood friend called me to apologize for not standing up for me. I was stunned. But her call was a balm for that old wound.
It's not too late to apologize, says our resident poet, author, and former New Yorker and Rolling Stone writer Carol Flake Chapman. Is there someone you’ve hurt or offended? It’s never too late, until it’s too late.
On a lighter note, did you read the story about the powerful new movie that came out of a reunion of a woman with her college professor? Sounds like a good way to spend an hour bathing in uplifting and hopeful cinematic storytelling. Like taking a nice long soak!
We’re always preaching about fitting everything into a carry-on because it makes moving around so much easier, and we still recommend it for NextTribe trips.
So we were intrigued by Janet Siroto’s story about the pleasures of a checked bag. If you’re only unpacking once in a single destination, then the extra wait at the carousel and the extra weight in the taxi or rideshare may be worth it to you. Or not. Depends on the trip.
These are just a few of the stories that have appeared in NextTribe magazine since we last wrote to you. Click here to read more.
How are you liking the new online experience? We’re still working out the kinks in our social network, TribeSocial, but we’re getting there. Always open to your feedback.
Happy trails!
Jeannie Edmunds
