Travel Tips Tuesdays: You'll Never Guess The Happiest City in the U.S.

Plus, we're releasing a new trip to Venice!

On Wednesday this week!! Ha Ha!

Greetings Travel Tip-Seekers!

Here are this week’s tips curated for you from our reliable sources in the travel industry and from general interest newsletters, websites, and publications. And scroll down to learn more about our just-released trip to Venice in March 2026.

Do Airlines Charge More for Solo Travelers?

Isn’t it enough that solo travelers have to pay more to have their own rooms? The Thrifty Traveler found out American, Delta and United were charging more for booking a single seat than for booking two or more passengers at a time. Even in business class! We’re looking at you Delta, American, and United.

5 Best US Airports for Long Layovers

We usually associate long layovers with international flights, but if you find you have a long layover on a domestic flight, consider yourself lucky if it’s at one of these airports.

International Layover? Go See the City!

Why waste hours sitting in an airport lounge when you could be out in the fresh air, checking out local cafes, museums, and street life? Our friends at Going (formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights) have some suggestions.

And You Don’t Have to Schlep Your Carryon

Last year traveling back to the US from Hanoi I had a 12 hour layover in Taipei. Did I get out and see the city? No. Because I didn’t want to have the drag my wheelie around with me. If only I had known about Radical Storage! I could have cabbed it over to Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall, dropped It off, and had a great day exploring the city! (Or I probably could have found somewhere in the airport to store it if I looked hard enough.)

If it had been a domestic flight, I could have used Bounce which has multiple locations in major US cities. But not in Austin. Maybe we’re too weird for them!

Long Day of Travel? Smell Nicer

Our friends at Daily Passport are always looking for ways to make travel easier. They have some advice about how not to be stinky if you’re going to be in close proximity to other humans. What a concept! Wish the guy next to me on my last flight had known about this. Oy!

The Happiest City in the United States—Can You Guess?

I can believe it. I lived there. But #1 will come as a shock to some of you. The Institute for the Quality of Life—which ranks Copenhagen as the happiest city in the world—just published their top ten happiest cities in the US.
