Travel news for our favorite travelers.

Greetings, Travel Tip-Seekers!

Here are this week’s tips curated for you from our reliable sources in the travel industry and from general interest newsletters, websites, and publications.

Nothing Worse than a Dead One

An AirTag in Jeannie Ralston’s suitcase on the way home from India helped baggage handlers locate her missing luggage, which averted further issues in a return itinerary that included many already.

She—and maybe many of you—did not know that AirTag batteries only last a year and must be replaced. Make sure your AirTag doesn’t give out at the same time you’re scrambling for your bag in Barcelona. Here’s how to check it.

Grab Those Price Drops Even After You’ve Booked!

There’s a new “set it and forget it” tool call Junova that will track price drops on your flights after you book. If the price drops, they jump in and secure an airline credit on your behalf. They only charge a success fee of 20% of whatever you save. No upfront costs.

This works only if you’ve booked directly with the airline and only if you bought more than a basic economy ticket on United, Delta, American, Southwest and Alaska. Flights that drop prices tend to do so more than once, with an average savings of $371, according to the company.

Jet Lag? What Beats It, What Doesn’t

Jet lag can leave you feeling like this ^ when you arrive in a distant time zone. A first priority on any NextTribe trip is to help ease travelers through the big shift.

Our task has become a lot more simpler thanks to this article in which seasoned travelers tested jet lag–busting methods, from eating-schedule adjustments and homeopathic pills to a celebrity-favorite technique. Lemongrass mist in the lav for the lag, anyone?

Hidden Travel Gems

The view on the street in Assisi—one of the gorgeous medieval towns we visit on our Umbria Creativity Retreat.

We always love looking at the lists of don’t-miss destinations put out by travel magazines this time of year. Since Jeannie Ralston used to write for the NY Times travel section, she pays particular attention to its annal round up.

Of course, we have to create our itineraries long before these lists hit so we’re happy to see that we’re on pace with the zeitgeist. Among the best places to travel this year, according to the Times AND NextTribe are: Vietnam; Assisi, Italy; Iceland; Nepal’s Himalaya Region; and Central Mexico.

Companies That Help You Move Out of the U.S.

Come on over.

More and more Americans are planning an escape. But moving out of the U.S. isn’t always easy—there are so many elements to consider. (Jeannie Ralston, who moved out of the States for four years, confirms this.)

Now at least 4 companies have launched to help make the transition smoother:

Citizen Remote: Best for digital nomads and visa requirement assistance

Expatsi: Basic strategies for those just starting to figure things out

GTFO Tours: Specializes in the Netherlands, as featured in this New Yorker article

Search Associates: Industry-specific for teachers looking to relocate abroad

Conde Nast Traveler: Why 2026 is the Year to Go to Venice

Shannon in St. Mark’s Square

Here’s what the magazine says about Venice; we agree 100 percent, which is why we have our Italian art and fun expert, Shannon Faseler, leading a trip there in March:

“In the last few years, travelers to Venice have seen major changes. Bans on large cruise ships in the city center and a five-euro “access fee” for day-trippers are meant to mitigate the adverse effects of mass tourism; the MOSE flood barriers, installed in 2020, have turned frequent winter flooding to a thing of the past. The result? A local crowd that's keen to support their fragile city—and inviting visitors to do the same. Sustainable tourism initiatives are sailing through the lagoon (and away from the overcrowded main island), growing and serving produce farmed on Sant'Erasmo and Mazzorbo, and cultivating artisan traditions that date back to the times of the Silk Road.”

Enjoy the journey!
