Road Trip Report!
Last week a group of us drove out to the Lavender Festival in Blanco, Texas. We were inspired by Jeannie Ralston’s memoir, “The Unlikely Lavender Queen”, knowing she co-founded Hill Country Lavender in 1999, cultivating a network of lavender farmers and entrepreneurs in Central Texas. She launched the Blanco Lavender Festival in 2005, 20 years ago. Our current drought has been tough on the fragrant herb, but we did see some of the purple plants!

Now that we have so many NextTribe members all over, I’ve decided that whenever I travel I’m going to meet with local NextTribers. I’ve had lots of conversations with women eager to start an active chapter in their own city. Read on to find out where I’m going first!
Check out everything going on all around the NextTribe community:
Seattle, WA
I was born in Seattle, and still have friends and family there. I can’t WAIT to have the Perfect Seattle Weekend in late August, just when I won’t be able to stand one more minute of our HOT HOT HOT weather here at home.
Who wants to whale-watch and blow glass with me? And find out what the heck a Hot Tub Boat is all about? I’m currrently working with a NextTribe member who would like to coordinate activities for local members there later this year. Stay tuned for Seattle shenanigans!
Salt Lake City, UT

I’ve never been to Salt Lake City before! I’m going to be there to hang out with my sister Melissa who is Nana-sitting her granddaughters, and we’ll kick it with our cousin Flossie Givens who lives nearby. Salt Lake resident Sandy Herman recently returned from a NextTribe trip to Ireland, and these three Irish cousins can’t wait to hear all about it!
If you know a woman our age who loves adventure and lives near Salt Lake City, forward my email to her: We’d love to meet her too!
Houston
Houston June event! June 21st is the Third Saturday Open Art Studios at Sawyer Yards. Please message Katherine via WhatsApp to let her know if you can participate!

San Antonio
For our June gathering, public artists Diana Kersey and Kate Newby have kindly agreed to host a studio tour and artist talk on June 24th, 9am. Thanks to Lucie Frost for organizing.
Diana and Kate are both well-known artists with public works throughout the country. We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to meet them and hear about their public work projects. You do not want to miss this one!
We have scheduled this as a morning event because the studio is not air conditioned. Please dress accordingly. More details and RSVP at this link: Eventbrite.
Austin
Cawfee Tawk is this Thursday June 12. We’re going back to our old favorite cafe at Austin's downtown Central Library, Café Crème that just opened up. Let’s check it out!

NOTE! Because of all the expected rain, we’re rescheduling the Swim Club Pool Party to Tuesday June 24th. Make sure you change your reservations in Resort Pass.
Summer in Texas means triple digit temps. It’s time to squeeze into that Miracle Suit, and take a dip! RESCHEDULED for Tuesday June 24th, we are going to use our Resort Passes to have a staycation at the Swim Club at Downright Austin hotel. We’ll be there between 11 and 3 pm. Thanks to Vanessa Sinclair for organizing!

Our members have been kicking around the idea of learning Mahjong for months. Vanessa is organizing a get together for a demo and to discuss future play times, dates and locations. If you have a tile set, please bring it! We need experienced players along with our newbies.

SAVE THE DATE for July 13th for a Sunday Pool Party hosted by Nancy Goedeke.

Please note: our Sunday Salon series is on a summer hiatus, but we’ll pick back up in the Fall. If you have any great women you know who would be an interesting presenter for us, please reach out to Nancy Goedeke!
I love to brainstorm about any type of meet up, coffee, happy hour, movies, book events, games night or an art tour. If you’re interested in getting a group organized in your city, shoot me an email, and I’ll help get it started.
Those who run our city groups get bumped up to Lifetime Member, with all those perks. Reach out to me at [email protected].
And remember, do an email search for Jennifer Miller’s invitation to join our WhatsApp community. You’ll find local WhatsApp groups in other cities. And this summer when you’re traveling to another city, maybe you too can connect with a local NextTriber!
Life’s more fun with friends!
