Mars here. There’s one spot left if you’d like to room with me at the Perfect Seattle Weekend at the end of August. I don’t know what August is like where YOU live, but imma going to want to get out of Texas by then.

If you run into a NextTribe member out in the wild (or while traveling), shoot a selfie and send it to me! It’s always a blast to get together with friends we’ve made on NextTribe trips or while vacationing.

We were delighted to meet Lexi Perlmutter (below left with Jeannie Edmunds) in the flesh! Lexi splits her time between Austin and New York, and both cities are lucky to have her. She came to our biweekly Cawfee Tawk in East Austin last week.

Below center - we’ve got lots of talented friends in Austin and very enthusiastic audience members! A group of gals in Austin got together to hear our pal Quita sing at the Broadway Sing Along Bar!

Below right - Debbie Lessin & Barbie Painter meet up for an amazing dinner at Buddakan in NYC on Sunday, June 29th, when Debbie was visiting! They met on the Vietnam trip in November 2024.

Jeannie Ralston is organizing a girls’ trip to Abingdon, VA the weekend of Aug 15 & 16th. Jeannie said, “I grew up going to Abingdon, VA for the Barter Theater. I love the town and the Virginia Creeper bike trail. This is a chance for a mini-escape for those from Asheville or vicinity. A great way to experience the fun and camaraderie of a NextTribe trip but stay close to home.” If you’re interested, please RSVP on Eventbrite by August 1st.

Thanks so much to Lisa Kaselak for kickstarting a group in Colorado! We know it’s a big state (not Texas-big, but we get it), so it’s a challenge finding a good central location. She’s postponed the “getting to know you” dinner but will send out a poll for a new date and location. Austin, TX

THIS THURSDAY JULY 24TH. Austin Nexttribers will be day-cationing at the Swim Club at Downright Austin hotel. Thanks to Vanessa Sinclair for organizing. Day passes (parking included) are available on the Resort Pass App. Message Vanessa on WhatsApp/Austin if you’d like to join us.

Austin’s Zilker Hillside Theater is as old as me! Since 1959, Zilker Hillside Theater has hosted free musicals in Zilker Park. This summer it’s “Bring It On: The Musical”. You can bring a picnic (read the parking info and rules here:) spread a quilt out to “save” your space, and take a dip in Barton Springs. We’re planning on meeting there Thursday, July 31st. Show starts at sundown (typically around 8 pm), but we’ll probably meet at 6:30 or 7. It’s free, but bring cash to donate when the cute young cast members come out at halftime with their donation buckets!

Our Sunday Salon series is on a summer hiatus, but we’ll pick back up in the Fall. If you have any great women you know who would be an interesting presenter for us, please reach out to Nancy Goedeke!

I love to brainstorm about any type of meetup, coffee, happy hour, movies, book events, games night, or an art tour. If you’re interested in getting a group organized in your city, shoot me an email, and I’ll help get it started.
