Mars here! We love it when members from different cities find a way to get together. Recently, pals Candy Schachat (from Ann Arbor, MI) and Beth Chernick (a real Jersey gal!) came to Austin for a visit. Jeannie Edmunds picked them up from the airport and hosted a happy hour at a swank, rooftop bar overlooking Austin’s Lady Bird Lake! And then Austin member Jennifer Gongaware—who had met them on our San Miguel de Allende trip in 2023—brought them to one of Austin’s most beloved restaurants, Fonda San Miguel (appropriately enough).

NextTribers have built-in friends around the country.

This week! Cawfee Tawk Thursday, April 17th. Let’s check out the cool new deli at Tiny Grocer, and First Light Books next door! You can order breakfast ahead of time, and then we’ll head for the patio tables outside.

Our April Sunday Salon will be a new experience! Our friend Sonya Feher has introduced us to a practitioner she really loves. Colleen Roundhill has practiced Meditation since 2003 and will be guiding us in a session at the Austin Shambhala Center. “In the Shambhala tradition, meditation practice offers a pathway to connect to our innate dignity, kindness, wisdom, and strength—and apply them on a journey of personal, cultural, and societal transformation.” Please RSVP via Eventbrite.

Houston

Have you herd? The Elephants are coming to Houston!

This week! The Great Elephant Migration, an “awe-inspiring outdoor art installation,” will be making its way to Hermann Park in Houston in April 2025. Learn more on the elephant’s website. All funds raised will be directed to projects that protect biodiversity and enable people and wildlife to share space.

Houston group leader Katherine Adams is planning to have everyone meet Thursday, April 17, at 10:30 am at the gates. Please message her in the Houston WhatsApp group to RSVP.

San Antonio

Today! An artist talk with Lucie Frost’s mom, a collector and leading authority on Mexican decorative arts, Susan Toomey Frost is happening today.

Phoenix
