Happy Eclipse Day 🌘 (To All Who Observe)

Next One In Austin Is In 2343! 🗓️

Good Morning, Austin NextTribe!

Today it seems everyone is on pins and needles…will we have rain? Cloud coverage? Will we be able to see today’s TOTAL FRIGGIN’ ECLIPSE?

LAST WEEK IN AUSTIN

Ok, let’s not get used to THAT particular level of nuttiness. That was a fun but a lil bit exhausting series of events for Austin NextTribe last week!

On Thursday 4/4 we took a TROLL STROLL. We hiked through beautiful Pease Park to see Malin the newest sculpture by Danish artist Thomas Dambo, the only one of his installations in Texas. His works are scattered in forests all over the world, and we were thrilled to see her in person!

After the troll(s) we walked over to the legendary Tavern restaurant (over 100 years old!) to have ginormous burgers. (mine was wrapped in a tasty cheese blanket!)

Next, we strolled down the road to the wonderful Davis Gallery, where our friend (and fellow NextTriber) Carla works. She graciously gave us a studio tour, and showed us the the oversized botanical paintings by Malou Flato! We’ll definitely do more gallery hopping, everyone seemed to love it!

On Friday April 5th, we pretty much took over Confituras Little Kitchen in South Austin. Owner and chief jam maker Stephanie McClenny talked to us about her business, where she sources the fresh fruits she uses in her concoctions and she dealt with Covid restrictions. We happily ate biscuits, jam, strawberry shortcake and bought jars to take back home!

CAWFEE TAWK, NORTH ATX EDITION

We’re going to do Cawfee Tawk on a Wednesday this time. Our pal Vanessa Sinclair has rhapsodized about Papis Pies in Round Rock, and we’ve decided, we’re going to go there on Wednesday April 17th.

The co-owner and general manager is an actor, director and fine arts photographer from Bolivia. They even have an Exhibits Curator on staff!

“When you walk through our garden patio gate, you walk into the kitchen of our childhood memories in Bolivia and Mexico. We welcome you to enjoy our restaurant as your community gathering space to convene over food and art.”

We’ll likely come up with a few other local places to visit up in Round Rock, so stand by for further details. Facebook event here:
