Age Boldly: Yes, we go THERE

Articles and Happenings

Now that Jeannie Ralston is back at home, she’s enjoying time with Asheville friends—who are a very creative bunch. Last night she went to a private screening of a movie called “Cult Classic” that stars Brandi Andrade, an actor, frequent traveler, and head of our Asheville NextTribe group. We love supporting our members’ work!

The film is a hilarious horror film—how often do you hear those two adjectives together—that centers on a group of women of all ages. One is a self-help guru who may or may not have mental health issues. The tagline is: “Sisterhood. It gets messy.” Jeannie usually avoids horror movies like she does poison ivy, but she loved this one because it’s a witty satire of New Age mumbo jumbo and traditional movie tropes. It’s making its way on the festival circuit—winning prizes and support—and we hope you get to see it at some point.

Also, in the photo above, Jeannie is wearing one of her favorite shirts. Zoom in and see if you can identify who face makes up the “leopard spots” on the shirt.

Jeannie Edmunds spent her last day in Greece catching up with her friend Constantinos. They worked together at a startup in Los Angeles ten years ago and hadn’t seen each other since. He has founded a new startup based in Greece so he doesn’t have to live in the US any more. He’s based on the island of Spiros, capital of the Cyclades, where he pays $500 a month rent for an apartment right across the street from the beach. She says, “It’s so tempting. I love Greece a lot, and the rents on Hydra are crazy. But if I could live on Spiros….”
