Hey there,

Lots of news this week from NextTribe HQ!

Have you been watching the World Cup?

Jeannie Ralston has always been a sports fan. Though she doesn’t regularly watch soccer, she loves the spectacle and suspense of the World Cup. Of course, she roots for Team USA, but her heart also belongs to Mexico. She was introduced to the World Cup hoopla when she lived in San Miguel de Allende with her family years ago, so every four years she buys a Mexico jersey—as she first did back in 2010. She believes she has a better chance of happiness in this tournament with two horses in the race. 🤞

Ralston is also thrilled to be profiled in Sanctuary Magazine this month. Thank you to NextTriber Carol Lippert Gray for the wonderful write up!

Jeannie Edmunds is still at home in Austin. This week she wants hide while we show you what other women in our company have been up to.

Our finance manager Dana Mitchell was visiting her mom in north Georgie, so they took a road trip to Asheville to have lunch with Jeannie Ralston!

Our travel director Marcy Mitchell went rafting in June. “The trip was 6 nights on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. We had a group of 13 people,” she says. “I will always say yes to time on a river. No screens, no beeps, bleeps, or flashing LED lights to hijack my attention—just good people and real connections. It’s a truly elemental experience—water, wind, fire, earth—that always brings me back to myself and what I truly value,” she continues. “Sleeping outside under the stars with the sound of the river, deep restful sleep, amazing food, easy laughter and a total reset. I could float forever. Take me back!

A few days after Marcy returned, Jennifer Miller, our memberships manager, was riding the Class 3 rapids on the Riveire Rouge Antoine Labelle in Quebec. “A super rough patch banana-ed my side of the boat. It grabbed the guy next to me, violently threw him overboard, and grabbed the paddle right out of my hands,” says Jennifer, who is halfway out of the boat in the photo above. “I stayed tucked in tight and didn’t get thrown. Sheer will. I was tossed completely upside down but I bounced back.”

That’s the NextTribe spirit!

A Spectacle of Fire and Ice

For all its raw, elemental beauty, Iceland also offers refined Nordic sophistication—world-class restaurants, striking architecture, cutting-edge art, and excellent shopping. It's a place of wonderful contradictions: wild yet welcoming, remote yet remarkably progressive (hello, most gender-equal country in the world).

San Miguel de Allende, Mexico is Conde Nast Traveler's #1 Travel Destination in the World and a stunning UNESCO World Heritage site. The vibrant colonial architecture and cobblestone streets create an enchanting atmosphere—the perfect setting for discovering rich Mexican culture and exploring the shops, sites, and restaurants that are uniquely San Miguel.

The trip takes place during Mexico's Day of the Dead festival, which can truly change your perspective on mortality. Day of the Dead is a lively, life-affirming holiday when Mexicans make ofrendas to commemorate loved ones who have passed and visit cemeteries to sing to and party with those dear but departed.

We make our own offering at the hotel and spend time discussing our loved ones who have passed. It's moving and cathartic—and, we’ve found, something our travelers truly appreciate at this time in their lives.
