Hi there,
This week’s newsletter is a reminder that with all of the exciting travel we do and the wonderful community that has grown around it, there are times when the surprises in life are not at all what you’d hoped for. Life can be a such a blessing, but nobody escapes the bad parts.

A good surprise in NYC. Whenever we can we go out of our way to support our friends because you just never know what tomorrow will bring.
This week Jeannie Ralston is in New York visiting friends who need visiting due to health issues.
On a little brighter note, her plane landed in time for her to make it to the tail end of a NextTriber’s book event. Though she arrived at the end, and a little sweaty from rushing, it was worth it. Ann Gorewitz’’ latest book “You, Me and the Dog,” will be available in September.

Josh’s little therapy dog came to every event and every meeting. So cute.
Jeannie Edmunds had her mentor office hours at the Capital Factory in Austin yesterday. The staff is shellshocked over the sudden loss of Josh Baer, the visionary founder who died in a private plane crash Tuesday night. Josh was 50 years old, the father or three, and together with his wife Amy set up the Baer Family Foundation to help disadvantaged children. He was never without his therapy dog, who also died in the crash. “Josh touched so many lives, including mine. When he brought me into the Capital Factory to mentor his startups, it led me to mentoring for another startup accelerator where I met Michelle Breyer. Michelle introduced me to Jeannie Ralston,” she says.
Hug your family and friends, and do it often. We never know when we’ll get news that changes our lives.
