Age Boldly: What's Better Than Not Looking Your Age?
Plus, 2 new trips for 2026--Paris in the Spring and Trekking in the Himalayas

Greetings!
After a sad Friday last week, spent at a college friend’s mother’s funeral, Jeannie Ralston changed the mood—with, she hopes, no disrespect to the lovely woman who passed. Ralston thoroughly believes in the Mexican saying, which we fully embrace on our Dia de los Muertos trip to San Miguel de Allende. “Don’t be afraid of dying. Be afraid of not living.”
She went straight to another college friend’s lake house and exalted in the beauty of another weekend on this Earth, a particularly exciting weekend. She calls Ellesor “the friend who keeps me young.” In this article, you will see a photo taken five years ago that looks just like the one on a jetski below. It’s important, both of them agree, to keep thrilling yourself and to do a fun check to make sure you’re not acting your age, which she thinks is more important than not looking your age.

We hope to still be doing this at 85!!
Jeannie Edmunds is thrilled to be able to see better out of her right eye after cataract surgery yesterday. She says she can’t wait to get the other eye done in two weeks. “I’ve been so frustrated with my glasses for the last year or two. I can’t believe I waited this long to get it done. It was a 5-minute procedure with a little Propofol, then no need for pain meds when I came home. It’s a miracle!”

Doing her Ray-Charles-at-the-keyboard impression. Cataract surgery is the only reason she tolerates wearing sunglasses that scream “OLD LADY IN THE WILD!!”

Jeannie Ralston says, “I am always on the look out for the perfect travel pants. This pair from Athleta fits the bill. I got the idea for them after seeing several of our travelers wearing them on trips. The fabric is wrinkle-resistant and stretchy. They have a bit of tailoring so you could hike in them or wear them to dinner. And the pockets!! Yay for good, deep pockets!”
