One reason Jeannie Ralston moved from Austin to Asheville after her divorce is so she could be closer to her mom, now 97. On Sunday, Jeannie and her sister Janyce (who will be with us on our Portugal trip in September) took their Mom out to lunch for Mother’s Day.

Jeannie R. leaves tomorrow for more than a month on the road (part of the trip will be her honeymoon) and she always likes to touch base with her dear mother before she heads out. She knows how lucky she is to still have her in her life.

This week’s story—a meditation on losing things while traveling—was written by Jeannie R., who is crossing her fingers that she can go this month in 5 different countries without a treasured item deciding to stay behind in one of them.

Jeannie Edmunds just returned from San Miguel de Allende, where she went to the dentist, visited some out of town spots as well as the huge Tuesday Tiangui (flea market). She also spent time on the ranch where we’ll have a Charro demonstration, followed by a catered lunch and private shopping experience at the ranch owner’s pop up boutique.

Jeannie E. bought the pants and shirt (above) at the ranch two years ago. She’s looking forward to being there again in October for our Day of the Dead trip, which is almost sold out again this year. That’s 7 years in a row of sold-out trips to this magical destination at a beautiful time of the year.
