Hi there!

Reverting to childhood…

After the warmth of India, last weekend’s snowstorm in Asheville (6 inches of the fluffy stuff) felt really cold. It prompted a deep nostalgia in Jeannie Ralston, who grew up not far from Asheville. She couldn’t resist throwing a few snowballs at Mike and making a snow angel in the untouched expanse of white on their front yard.

Besides trudging through snow and planning a wedding, Jeannie has been thinking of ways to celebrate NextTribe’s 9th anniversary on Feb. 15th. We already have events planned in a few cities on that date—so we’ll raise a glass in toast to our relative (and hard-won) longevity. We’ll also be announcing a new contest with lots of $$$ in prizes. Stay tuned.

Queen of the Desert

Jeannie Edmunds and her travelers are back in Marrakech after spending two nights in the Sahara learning how to make Berber pizza, dancing to local Gnuoua music, and riding camels in the dunes of the Sahara.

Tomorrow she’ll experience her first hammam. She says she’s looking forward to getting scrubbed and massaged, but “what we saw, felt, heard, heard, tasted and touched on this trip will stay with (and I think with all of us) for a long, long time,” she says..

Pssst! If you’ve been thinking about Morocco, we have some last-minute spaces on our February 21st departure. Plan your escape from the madness.

And now, enjoy the reads!

This Week’s Reads

And from the archives, more about food! We published this during another stressful time—the pandemic. All holds true today.

Happy shopping, and safe travels—

Jeannie Ralston, CEO + Jeannie Edmunds, Chief Operating Officer

Jeannie Edmund says this from Morocco, “One of our travelers here swears by this device, which we featured in our gift guide last December, and has used it on several trips. Although our luxury camp in the Sahara has WiFi the service can be spotty, especially when it’s windy. But Christine has an alternative right in her pocket! Jelly!!”
