Greetings!
After a thrilling visit to San Miguel de Allende over Dia de los Muertos, Jeannie Ralston is at home in Asheville, coining a new word: “dajamas”—which she took from Day Pajamas. (She’s a big fan of portmanteaus.) See below for an example.
Someone in her household was ribbing her about working all day in her PJs, so she went out and bought some very comfy pants—soft material, elastic waist, loose fit—that present as pants but might as well be pajamas.
Everyone needs “dajamas,” she says, especially at our age and especially when you’re recovering from three weeks away and from dancing long into the night 2 days ago while dressed up like some kind of skeleton queen. Bring ‘em on.
Presto Chango!
Jeannie Edmunds is on a plane right now—in the middle of a major pivot. Going from Mexico to Vietnam, from fajitas to pho. No one on staff is sure how she’s able to turn around so quickly from a trip in one hemisphere to another in the opposite hemisphere. With only ONE full day at home.
She’s our super traveler, and makes everyone else exhausted. But that’s how much she loves our Vietnam trip. Jeannie Ralston tried to wrestle it from her, but no doing. We’re praying for her health!
Happy November to all!
This Week’s Reads
Our featured story this week is a beautiful piece by Susan Campbell about discovering joy again after becoming a widow. Susan is an accomplished journalist and we are lucky to have her on our trips and to get to read the insights from her travels.
NextTribe has always loved stories about reinvention and embracing new paths. We have a whole category in the archives of reinvention articles. This one really resonated with us. Maybe you too?

Happy travels—

FEATURED FIND
(though they don’t call them that)
Jeannie Ralston says, “I know I showed a pair of wide leg stretchy pants last week (Spanx jeans), but I guess I’m just in a dajama state of mind. These lovely pants, which Lulu Lemon calls Palazzos, are what I need more of in my life—for traveling and recovering from traveling. Do you think zippers and buttons on pants will soon be obsolete? I sure hope so.”
